I've read many variations before, but this one just struck my funny bone this morning.

A good thing to remember when I'm tempted to wade into an internet slapfight.

Whether this is a good thing or not is a point for debate. But all my laptops are now online, including the work laptop. Now I don't have to remember to save things to my C drive if I need to work from home.

Nothing was wrong with the router, hardware-wise. The nice young Genius simply gave it a hard reset. The issue may simply have been a corrupt preferences file, but there's always the possibility that there's an intermittent issue with the cable modem, and wouldn't that be fun? Here's hoping it was just a corrupt file.

Genius said that in the two years that he's been at that store, he's only seen one Extreme Base Station go bad. He did advise a hard reset once a year to clear out the cobwebs, and shut down/power ups 2x a month.

Of course, as I was reinstalling the base station, I saw how god awful dusty my desk was. So I have been clearing off junk and dusting. Next, I will bind cords with twisty ties because while the laptops may be wireless, the hub, card reader, external hard drive, speakers, and printers all have flippin' cords. It's ridiculous.

Winter Olympics start tonight. Opening ceremonies. I love the Winter Games. Luge. Biathlon. Curling. Bobsled. You can keep the summer stuff.

I hope Vancouver was able to truck in enough snow. Wish we could send you ours.

Let the Games begin!

While I was waiting for my Apple appointment, I wandered over to the Sephora
store. That's usually dangerous, but I was good today and limited myself to
lip gloss and deep-discount skin balm. Then came lunch at Corner Bakery, a sandwich and
coffee and writing.

Then came Crate & Barrel. I had found some dishes I liked in the latest
catalog, but I wanted to see them in person before I bought them. There was
also a set of glass mixing bowls that I liked. Wound up getting both, along
with some gadgets--a small mortar and pestle, a citrus reamer, a little
knife for hard cheese. And last but not least, Bellini jam from Stonewall
Kitchens, a spread made with white peaches and prosecco. I had some of their
Strawberry Apple Rhubarb jam a few weeks ago, and it was sooo good that I
was eating it straight from the jar.

Then I came home, cleaned my desk and reinstalled the Base Station. Got my
wireless up and running (*see previous yea!!*), then packed away an old set of dishes to
make room for the new ones. Washed and stashed the new dishes and bowls.
Warmed up some bean soup for dinner. Now I'm watching the Olympics.

Tired. Satisfied, but tired. It's so nice to have wireless again.
