One More Detour on the Writing Road

If I told you that it was raining here, you would be utterly shocked, wouldn't you? Don't fib--you know it's true. I can see your face, so just admit it.

Hockey season ended for me last night. Hawks lost in sudden death 2-1 to Vancou. They tried, and Crawford was wonderful at goal. They showed a lot of heart, coming back as they did. But this year, it was not to be. I hope they keep Crawford and spend the off-season filling some holes. New season starts in a few months. Meanwhile, there's the Bulls to tide one over. I think baseball may be a wash this year.

I am now the owner of Extremely Red flannel sheets, which arrived yesterday. I laundered them last night. Blasted things shed enough fuzz to make a fair sized blankie. But they are now clean and fresh-smelling. I will put them on the bed this weekend.

The more I see the salary-cap battered Blackhawks, the more they remind of the 2007-2008 gang. Almost, but not quite there. I will be surprised if they make the playoffs, amazed if they do well. I would be thrilled to be so amazed, but I'm not expecting it.

The Bulls look decent so far this season. After the last few years, it's strange to think, "Hey, the Bulls are on. Cool."

Possibility of snow tomorrow. No clue how much, if any, I may see.

Holiday cards have been sent. For once, I'm ahead of the game.

Bell's Best Brown Ale is pretty good. And there's an owl on the bottle, which makes it even better.

Vs. Celtics. Game 6. 118-118, headed for the third overtime.

In other news, the Hawks are losing 0-3, late in the 2nd period. *dammit*

BULLS WIN, 128-127.

They're heading back to Boston.
