I managed to wreck the protective shield I bought for my iPad because the damned thing was flipping welded to its stupid backing. It came in a tube, and so was all curled up, which made unpeeling it that much more difficult. First it stuck to itself, then it stuck to me. It comes with a spray that I was supposed to spray all over my hands and the shield itself to prevent fingerprint transfer. I was then supposed to apply the wet shield to my iPad. I'm sure the liquid didn't present any type of compatibility issue, but I still didn't like the idea of slapping a wet piece of plastic on said iPad. Which is a moot point because the adhesive surface nailed my wrist as I was pulling it, and came away with a nice imprint of same. So it's toast, because there is no room for error with this thing.

I think I'm going to buy a couple of nice, cheap shields.

I watched a guy in the ATT store try to put one on an iPhone someone bought (turned out 3 guys failed) and customer gave up. I tried to put one on my Touch and failed. Decided that my iPhone didn't need one. I don't know of anyone who actually got one to work. You are not alone.

Some shields are easier than others. I should have stuck with the removable ones. It ticks me off, because these Zagg shields aren't cheap. The way it held onto the backing was ridiculous. I thought I was going to stretch the film out of shape before I got a chance to apply it. Which I never did.

I don't think my iPad really needs a shield. I keep it in a case, and the surface cleans up nice and shiny when I wipe it with a lint-free cloth.

I have this for my iPhone and didn't have any problems putting it on, but It did take me a really long time to do it. I didn't get it for my pad though. After a while though, this one ends up getting an orange peel effect and you have to replace it in a out a year anyway.

I got this one for the iPad

The first one I had dust on it and screwed it up. The second one went on fine. Screen protectors just are hard to put on sometimes

I read some of the reviews. Even the non-adhesive shields seem to like to stick to things.

Since the local Apple store didn't carry (!) any protective shields for the iPhone 4, they sent me to a mall cart that called Cell Armour. I believe this is what they applied (http://www.zagg.com/?s_kwcid=TC|9984|iPhone%20shield||S||5903237293&gclid=CMPE-oHtnaMCFVNY2godfD2I4A). Great stuff, lifetime warranty, and most importantly they put it on for you and the guys there were great. Maybe there's something comparable near you?

I would need to have someone else put the thing on. The Zagg shield was the one I trashed last night. That was an expensive mistake.

The Zagg one is guaranteed so if you send it back to them, whatever's left of it, you'll probably get a refund.

I have one on my iPhone, but I don't plan on getting one for my iPad when I get one, since I'll be keeping it in a folder rather than dropping it in my bag with my keys like I do my iPhone.

The Zagg is wadded up in the kitchen trashcan. I don't want to try and dig it out.

I keep my iPad in a folder, as well. It does collect fingerprints, but they wipe off completely with the right cloth. I would have to wipe the surface regularly anyway, even with a shield.

That's what I liked about this mall cart. You left them your phone (or DS or Kindle of whatever) for 15 minutes and when you came back, it was all done and pretty.
