I emailed Lodge Cast Iron to let them know that they had shipped the wrong item, and asked whether I needed a Return Authorization # to send back the griddle. The customer service rep emailed back today--she said they will send me the grill, and that I can keep the griddle at no charge.

Looks like Lodge will be my first choice for cast iron and whatever enameled cast iron I buy in the future.

I honestly don't know when I will use it, and I have an electric non-stick griddle for pancakes and such. But, I have it.

This made me clap my hands for you. I love their products (which I've picked up at the local hardware store) and I'm tickled their customer service is so awesometastic.

I feel guilty about keeping things even when the vendor says I can. It's like, are you sure?

In the case of the grill, the stock number differed from the griddle stock number by one letter. So, if you ordered something that shares most of a stock number with something else...

I didn't expect it. I would have been thrilled if they had sent me a postage paid return sticker.

Shipping weight is probably cost prohibitive, plus this way they get a customer-for-life. ;)

Yeah. I just emailed them back, thanking them in return.

Funny aside--the lady who emailed me? Her last name is "Wooden".

I think they deserve a link in the main post so your faithful readers can also support them.

That's fabulous! I'll have to check them out. Once I get my last teen trained not to burn pots, I'll need to replace my pots.

Blackened burgers, steaks, and/or chicken breasts would be an excellent use (fish needs a pan with sides to it, I'm afraid). Can't use nonstick for blackening... darn it.
