Aug. 27th, 2009 09:49 pmListening to the weather forecast. This summer is shaping up to be the cloudiest in the 115-year span since they started keeping records. Only 53% of usual/possible sunshine.

Date: 2009-08-28 08:21 pm (UTC)I think we were too hot and dry this year, asour tomato crop this year was the pits. Purple hull peas and snap peas did well. As did turnips, potatoes and beets. Carrots were lackluster and we've had very few bell peppers. Blueberries were poor as were grapes.
We should have a great crop of blood oranges in Feb/Mar. We've got all sorts of fruit on one of the trees.

Date: 2009-08-28 08:19 pm (UTC)The thyme did OK, much to my surprise. And I have more sage than I know what to do with.
I'm going to try for some fall lettuces. The seeds arrived a couple of days ago, and the mesclun mix is supposed to grow within 25 days. It prefers cool as well, so maybe this will work out.
