When I think of "my music," I think of music made by artists who first became popular in the early to mid 70s, when I entered my teens. David Bowie's music is mine in a way that the Stones' or Beatles' music can never be.

Fleetwood Mac in on the tail end of this personal time of mine. So is Bruce Springsteen...who is adorning the cover of the September/October issue of the AARP magazine. Bruce is 60. Bowie is 62.

I don't even want to guess how old the members of Fleetwood Mac are.

Just hobbling along...

"My" music was never the popular music, though I quite liked some of the folk music of the early-mid Sixties and a few Beatles songs and thoroughly enjoyed some John Denver. But I also liked stuff that wasn't on any charts. The "wall of sound" type of music made me want to be far, far, far away from it, preferably where I could not hear that damned boring bass beat.

It's good that mileage varies--it keeps more kinds of music alive.

What I listen to had changed--with respect to rock/alternative/whatever the label is, I try to keep up with current stuff. My favorite music era is actually the 80s. Music from the 70s brings back memories of high school and college, but I greatly prefer bands and singers that came later.

And David Bowie is still pretty hot too.

I saw him live in concert 5 years ago, and he looked fantastic. Later pics? He's a little poochy. Of course, so am I.

I will never forget that show. The scene in the lobby of the Rosemont Horizon Theater. The show was in January, so it was cold of course, and all these Bowie fans in their 40s, 50s, and 60s are standing around in their suede and leather jackets, sipping wine out of plastic cups. We looked like a bunch of retirees waiting for the investment adviser talk to begin. Not a rock n roll crowd, is what I'm trying to say. Except that we were.

Talk about cognitive dissonance.

Don't get me started. I saw Grace Slick on TV yesterday and was shocked to realize she looked like an old lady. What?!? LOL I'm an old lady. ;-0

She's 70. Grace Slick is 70. I saw a photo of her yesterday. Her hair was short and silver.

Don't look at a current picture of the Stones . . .

I can actually look at them, because they've all looked like dried prunes since the 1980s.

True enough.

I've had a hard time swallowing all the PBS "reunion concerts" for the 50s and 60s bands -- rock, R & B, do-wop, folk, whatever. Bald fat guys . . .

Considering all that went on in the '60s it's lucky any of us got to be such a great, graceful old age. ;-)

I think Miz Grace got her shit-kicking out of the way a few years back. That gel used to get in some messes.
