Entering July tomorrow. It's been varying grades of horrible for the last couple of years--lost Mom in 2007, and Mickey last year. The fact that it's my birthday month has been lost. I don't even care.

I hope this July is uneventful.

Un-Birthday

I once had a co-worker who I assume had a similar problem (she never told us why, and we never pressed her). But she was a great peer, and we wanted to show her how much we appreciated her, so we gave her an "un-birthday". We just picked a random Friday a couple of monts before her real birthday and gave her a surprise party, complete with decorations and a cake and presents. She really enjoyed it, and that is how we celebrated her birthday from there on out. It was a good solution for all of us. When you're ready, it might work for you, too.

Another friend suggested simply picking another day and treating it as my birthday. I also try to go to Wiscon each year, and she suggested celebrating it then. I thought about looking into a party suite and having an "It's my birthday when I say it's my birthday" party, but then the book kicked me in the ass and I couldn't take the time.
