Medical March has ended, and I have been pronounced OK. A couple of nuisance issues. A referral to a foot and ankle doc for my stupid feet. Glad I got it all done, but also glad it's over.

King, however, tested positive for Lyme. The thing is, he has been receiving Lyme vaccinations for the last few years. I will be taking him in tomorrow for a different blood test, as false positives are not unheard of with dogs that have been vaccinated.

If it turns out that King does have Lyme, it's likely that the vaccination at least weakened the infection and antibiotics should handle it. He has shown no signs of illness--the limp he had six weeks ago resolved in a few days, his appetite is good, and he shows no signs of malaise or fever. But the preference would be for a false positive. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Better a false positive than a missed diagnosis. We lost a dog to lyme because of that.
Thinking the good thoughts!

I'm sorry. Thank you for the good thoughts.

Lots of confusing info online. Dogs can test positive for infection, yet not have the disease. The vaccine itself is a problem and shouldn't be administered. Yes, it should. If a dog is infected but asymptomatic, you don't need to treat. Yes, you do.

Meanwhile, King just carried a pair of my previously-worn underwear into the living room.

I hope he's all right.
