The iMac crashed in the middle of an attempt to run the hardware test. I'm afraid the next step is the Genius Bar, but it will be a few weeks before I can get down there.
The install disc or the Leopard disc? Hubby came home yesterday and said, "You can't boot from some of the original Leopard discs." Apparently there was a bug in them that's since been fixed.
The install disc, which is, I am guessing, a Tiger disc since I bought the system in late 2004. (It may even be a Panther disc, or whichever cat was operational in late '04).
I can boot without the disc sometimes. The mac will work fine for extended periods, then freeze up and/or crash, or crash right away. It's one of those variable problems.
