That pre-formed, scallop-edged bacon product that the cafeteria started using because the slices don't crumble like the real stuff, which made it difficult to charge by the slice?

Doesn't taste like bacon.

It tastes like bacon if you removed the bacon. Bacon ghosts. Distant bacon memories.

One thing is doesn't taste like? Bacon.

Either that, or some type of microwaveable bacon that consists of the real stuff mixed with binder. It has some bacon-y flavor, but it very washed out, and the contrast between the fat and meat isn't there. You'd never in a million years confuse it for a thick slice of apple wood-smoked bacon.
