Do Republicans really not see the irony when they complain the the Democrats are shoving legislation down their throats?

No, they don't see it. Because for politicians, anything more'n 5 minutes ago is ancient history.
I can easily envision something like ...

It's not about what we did, it's needs to happen going forward. And while those practices were done in the past, it was a different time back then, with a different morality. In today's world, that kind of thing is seen as wrong, and obviously needs to be fixed NOW, so it can't continue to harm the American people, to harm American children. And the democrats can't continue to subvert the American legal system as they are doing right this very minute. It's wrong, and should be stopped immediately.
