Do Republicans really not see the irony when they complain the the Democrats are shoving legislation down their throats?

regardless of party

When you're in the majority, it's "listening to the will of the people". When it's done to you as the minority, then it becomes "shoving legislation down our throats".

No, they don't see it. Because for politicians, anything more'n 5 minutes ago is ancient history.
I can easily envision something like ...

It's not about what we did, it's needs to happen going forward. And while those practices were done in the past, it was a different time back then, with a different morality. In today's world, that kind of thing is seen as wrong, and obviously needs to be fixed NOW, so it can't continue to harm the American people, to harm American children. And the democrats can't continue to subvert the American legal system as they are doing right this very minute. It's wrong, and should be stopped immediately.

*shrug*

Nope. And the Democrats really don't see the irony when they do it either. I just accept that at any given time, part of my social circle is feeling Put Upon.

It's a calculated political move. It doesn't matter how the politicians see it, only how the Public sees it and the Public has the memory retention of a fruit fly.

Unfortunately, no they don't see it. My parents are still convinced that Bush is the greatest. sigh. People are sooooo capable of being willfully blind (no matter what their political affiliation). Sometimes I despair about the human race.

It does, doesn't it? I like stew, now I just need a faithful companion (I just got new shoes for walking so that part is taken care of- grin).

Don't forget: always believe everything the old guy with the white eyes tells you.

Oh, and you need a cloak that has no possible hope of keeping you warm, but looks way cool.

Yes, I read the Drudge Report's link to the article about the Democrats trying to hurry up and get new legislation passed, and thought, "Wow--what a very Republican thing to do."

Irony is a natural resource for the Republicans. They use it to build weaponry.

And they get it by spending the goldy and awarding each other bits of bronzy, right?

(Eh, I just wanted an excuse to use this icon. It's new. Thank you for your patience and tolerance.)

The blogs I read are commenting that if the Dems show the Repubs the fairness they demand, the Repubs are going to use it to disrupt, filibuster, and, frankly, do all the things the Dems did, some of which worked, and for which they were loudly condemned.

If things get any more ironical, the poles are going to shift.

Boy, I'm betting that they're breathing a sigh of relief that their effort to end the filibuster went for naught, because they're going to use it like a club every chance they get.

To which I say, "Business as usual." The issues may change, but the attitudes remain the same...

Some of them don't. Their world view is that narrow -- and they are so used to playing the underdog martyr, they missed their party taking over like a steamroller.

Some do -- so they continue to play the martyr because a lot of times it works.

Or so I suspect.
