Eric likes Incident. Called it "very nice". It will be appearing in the December issue of Universe, not the October ish as originally thought. Probably a length thing, I'm guessing, though that's speculation on my part.

In a way, this is good. I wondered how I'd juggle those edits with J5, and figured spontaneous combustion a likely outcome.

I'm glad to hear that the story was well-received!

You and me both. I know he'd asked for something, but editors reject commissioned stories when they have to.

He mentioned that he thought it might "intrigue a lot of readers" into checking out a Jani novel, which is one point of the exercise. That made me feel good.

Thanks again to you and everyone else who beta'd this puppy!

That was the effect on me--wanna read More!

Congratulations. It's a good story and will win you some new readers.

::beam::

I hope it doesn't seem as though I'm making a big deal about this. But it was my first novelette, and it was a challenge. Now I know I can do it.

Congratulations!

Spontaneous combustion never works. They just put you out and expect the edits on time, anyway.

Well, damn.

Oh, excellent -- you REALLY don't need any more editing requests at this particular moment.

I do manage to paint myself into these corners, then up the ante by adding dragons.

Congrats! Glad to hear it! (I just hate it when clients spontaneously combust....)

It's hard to blow out the ashes from between the pages of the manuscript. They smear like the dickens.

Congrats! The bridge-building to your novels sounds like a grand advantage to this whole writing-short adventure!

I think so, too. At least, here's hopin'!
