Took the new shower curtain, a very quiet bamboo pattern in shades of green and white, out of the package with a mind toward installing it. Three hours later, I had indeed done so, along with executing a stem to stern cleaning of the bathroom that included stripping the old wallpaper border and installing a new switchplate. I even washed the floor and the window. Vacuumed the window screen.

The wallpaper border had to go. It was a busy paisley in jewel tones that worked okay with the old cabbage rose shower curtain, but clashed mightily with the bamboo. The switchplate was also decorated with roses, so I exchanged it for one of the old kitchen fixtures decorated with ivy. Ivy ain't bamboo, but it is green/cream, which works better than pink and red.

Maybe this only happens to me, but it's funny how colors and patterns that seemed so wonderful years ago now elicit "WTH were we thinking?"

Bathroom still needs a semi-major overhaul. But the overall color scheme is now very quiet--white fixtures with cream walls, and accents of grey, green, and cream. I can add dull purple, shades of camel/brown, or other quiet tones. I think that will be the palette if/when I redo the room.

I'm whipped. Summoned the energy to prep the chicken, which I stuffed with thyme, garlic, and lemon and am roasting on a bed of onion and carrots. The All-Clad roaster is finally getting its maiden voyage, and the aromas are starting to waft. I just had a glass of wine and a rosemary/sea salt/sourdough roll, which I warmed until crisp and slathered with butter. Call it an appetizer.

Nice day. 60s. The morning was sunny, but it's clouding now. Still a good day for seeds to warm and begin the road to germination. I put out the seedling tray, too.

Okay, I got done most of the stuff I wanted to. Where's my weekend?

It's strange and sad and lovely.
