Just an aside
Sep. 25th, 2009 07:47 pmSince I started using my orthotics, I have felt a profound improvement in the state of the feet. Less stiffness. Much less pain. So, over the last few weeks, I've added jogging on the flat to the walking-up-inclines workout. Started with a mile. Up to a mile and a half now. A lousy 20-minute mile and a half, but still. I'll add a little distance and a little speed every week, and see how the knees do. Pre-orthotics, they let me down every time I tried to go farther than two miles or faster than 5 mph. But the way my arches were mashing down with each step could serve as an explanation for the knee issue, and the arches aren't mashing anymore.
Before I started, I wondered if I would still be able to manage a mile. Maybe walking kept me in better shape than I thought. Maybe jogging a mile is no big deal. Whatever. I'll keep at it, and see how it goes over the next few months. Just let the knees hold up.
