When I'm in the middle of Book, cooking is usually the furthest thng from my mind. But I have to eat decently, or brain will clog and I will feel like a slug. I didn't prep very well for the first draft, but I'm in better shape for revisions. Boneless, skinless chicken breasts, individually wrapped and frozen. Salmon. A couple of steaks. All for grilling, in a sandwich or salad. Boring after a while, maybe, but not junky.

A turkey breast is currently roasting. I will slice most of it and freeze it. Again, for sandwiches. There's lamb chili and shepherds pie in the freezer.

And there are cookies. Because there must always be cookies.

Friday is Recycling Day at my company, so I dragged all the electronic junk up from the basement and piled it in the dining room. I want to get it into the truck by Thursday, because temps are supposed to drop to below zero F and that's not a time I want to be carting stuff outside. So far, 2 monitors, 2 CPUs, a laser printer, several keyboards, a laptop, a typewriter, an old Brother word processor, a radio, and a stereo so old that it has a pop-up slot for 8-tracks. I may keep the radio--I don't know.

The size and weight of those PCs boggles me. I look at the laptop I'm using now, this 13" 5-pound does-everything-I-need, and I shake my head.

In other news, the turkey stock is still simmering. Hawks are playing the Predators; so far, the score is 1-all. The Hawks seem to be going through a scoring drought. I hope they get over it.

In even more other news, I ordered some MacBook and iBook skins from Gelaskins, which I think I heard about by way of [livejournal.com profile] rolanni. "Shore," "Bookshelf," and "Lady Baroque" for the MacBook, and "Kobe" for the poor little iBook, which will be 5 years old next month and is still working.
