ksmith: (gimme a break)
I have too much crap to do.

Completed:

Laundry (although I may do one more load before I leave)

Shoe shopping (took longer than I thought, but I think I found some shoes that won't kill my feet by virtue of the fact that they're cross-trainers, They just have gold metallic trim and such, so they don't look quite so athletic)

Picked out clothes to pack. For the most part. The actual packing, however, has yet to commence.

Stocked up on food for King. Need to refill scrip for his meds. Maybe we'll GO FOR A RIDE IN THE TRUCK LATER, OK, KING!!!!!!

Mowed back yard, including the weedy patch that the tilled back corner had become as time passed and Kris made no moves toward actually planting anything.

Cleaned junk out of Kuro. Still need to vacuum.

Made contact with friends and set up times to meet 'n' eat.

In between cooking and eating and trying to write and general living. There are still things I need to get thanks to overlong shoe shopping, which caused a chain reaction pile up that nearly collided with yesterday's appointment.

I also need to write my first post for the new Ninc Blog, which began running a week or so ago. Novelists Inc is a multi-genre novelists organization. I attended my first Ninc conference this past March, and really enjoyed it. Learned stuff. Got to see NYC for the first time since the NYC Nebs of 2000 or 2001. Next year's Ninc conference will be in St Louis. Looking forward to another drivable con because I anticipate air travel to be even more fun next year than it is this year.

Little thingies that look suspiciously like buds on one of the tomato plants. I'm pretty sure it's the Tobolsk, but we're in early August and I'm not inclined to be too picky. I'll be happy to get a couple of tomatoes out of this venture, regardless of color.

I may plant some peppers next year, along with tomatoes. I really like those orange bell peppers, and can only imagine what a good homegrown pepper tastes like.

I first heard this song earlier this afternoon, courtesy of a Reebok commercial. Heard it again about 15-20 minutes ago. Went online. Found it in about 30 seconds. Hunted on iTunes--found it and bought it. Then I found the lyrics. Then I found the chords.

ghod, I love the internets. I also love this song. Train Song by Vashti Bunyan. First released in May 1966.
