Tuesday. Ok.

Yesterday, Kuro's Check Engine light went on and stayed on, even though the gas tank was full and the cap was cranked down so hard that I have trouble opening it. I'll be taking him in for service on Thursday. I hope it's the cap or a hose, something simple and cheap.

I spent part of the evening culling the closet for a clothing drive. One purse, five pairs of shoes, and many clothes later--jeans. khakis, and a couple of casual suits--I have more room in the closet, but it's still a mess, filled with things that are ok-but-not-great and a few things I wear to death. I know the rule is that you should get rid of clothes/shoes if you haven't worn them in a year, and I'm actively breaking that one. I have things I haven't worn in 5-6 years or more, dress suits that are classic enough to still be in style but that I need to lose weight to fit into. So I'll lose 15 pounds, try them on, and if they fit, then I'll decide to get rid of them. It's like I can't let them have the last laugh. I'll get rid of them because I want to, not because I have to.

Yeah, I know. The line for that neurosis forms over there.

Still haven't started on tax stuff. The goal is to ship it out on Monday. I could start tonight, and do a little at a time, and be done. Or I could wait until Friday night and add that frisson of irritated panic to the mix. Guess which option I'll pick?

One of the books on the ever-growing TBR stack is Dan Simmons' The Terror. The dedication reads: "This book is dedicated, with love and many thanks for the indelible Arctic memories, to Kenneth Tobey, Margaret Sheridan, Robert Cornthwaite, Douglas Spencer, Dewey Martin, William Self, George Fenneman, Dmitri Tiomkin, Charles Lederer, Christian Nyby, Howard Hawkes, and James Arness."

It didn't hit me until I saw Arness' name. Simmons dedicated his book to the cast and production team of the movie The Thing. Given the book's storyline, it makes sense.

Cool.
