ksmith: (snowflakes)
A) a pretty good song by The Velvet Underground
B) the day/time it happens to be

It is snowing, and has been for a little while. Fine, grainy stuff that I'm hoping doesn't amount to much. I don't think it will require much in the way of shoveling. I think "pushing with the shovel" and in some cases, "sweeping" will prove sufficient.

Revisions. Very happy with the word cuttage, which was necessary. It always bothered me that I hit the big moments so late in this book. Well, guess what--it bugged my editor too.

So, we're approaching the point where Jani starts to feel left out of the loop. In another chapter or two, that will switch over to really, really angry. Not pissed. Angry. There is a difference.

I usually don't hit my writing stride until Sunday afternoon. Oh, how I wish I was taking tomorrow off. Instead, I have a 2-day management thingie, which I really shouldn't miss because I should have taken it last year sometime. But depending on the schedule, next Friday or Monday will be an off day.

If I can finish the current chapter and tweak the next, I will have completed four chapters this weekend, along with revisions on Chapter 10. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] serendipita, I made contact with Doug Hoffman, who in addition to being an ENT doc, is also a writer of skiffy and romance. He helped me muchly. The Big Bad scene is shorter, but better. More streamlined, and makes some medical sense. Thanks to his and Richard Moon's help, I feel much better about it.

The Bears are going to the Super Bowl. After all the crepe-hanging I'd been hearing all week about Rex Grossman and the fall off of the offensive and defensive lines, I wasn't sure what to expect. Looked a little shaky around the end of the second half, but the blue and orange boys made good. I'm happy for Lovie Smith, too. One of the announcers said that he is the lowest paid head coach in the NFL. I think the Bears organization should make a show of good faith, tear up the old contract--which has one year to run--and renegotiate. Smith's players love him, and he's a nice man. It appears that he can coach. Can we please hold on to this one?
