Sunday evening
Jan. 21st, 2007 07:23 pmI usually don't hit my writing stride until Sunday afternoon. Oh, how I wish I was taking tomorrow off. Instead, I have a 2-day management thingie, which I really shouldn't miss because I should have taken it last year sometime. But depending on the schedule, next Friday or Monday will be an off day.
If I can finish the current chapter and tweak the next, I will have completed four chapters this weekend, along with revisions on Chapter 10. Thanks to
serendipita, I made contact with Doug Hoffman, who in addition to being an ENT doc, is also a writer of skiffy and romance. He helped me muchly. The Big Bad scene is shorter, but better. More streamlined, and makes some medical sense. Thanks to his and Richard Moon's help, I feel much better about it.
The Bears are going to the Super Bowl. After all the crepe-hanging I'd been hearing all week about Rex Grossman and the fall off of the offensive and defensive lines, I wasn't sure what to expect. Looked a little shaky around the end of the second half, but the blue and orange boys made good. I'm happy for Lovie Smith, too. One of the announcers said that he is the lowest paid head coach in the NFL. I think the Bears organization should make a show of good faith, tear up the old contract--which has one year to run--and renegotiate. Smith's players love him, and he's a nice man. It appears that he can coach. Can we please hold on to this one?

Date: 2007-01-22 02:50 am (UTC)But patience is occasionally rewarded. For example -- if they win, the owners would be crazy not to offer him a better contract. But the owner of the Dallas Cowboys fired a coach that took his team to Superbowl wins back to back -- and the team has sucked rocks ever since.
So owners are unpredictable...and have the resources to make Much bigger and more public mistakes than you or me.

Date: 2007-01-22 03:45 am (UTC)The last time the Bears were in the Super Bowl, my sister was getting married a week before the game -- the priest was NOT happy when the organist played "Bear Down, Chicago Bears" before the processional. Now her oldest son turns 21 soon. Amazing how time flies.
