...I'd have asked for tomorrow and Friday off. Two full weeks. Makes a dent in the allotted vacation time, but at least I'd go into work not feeling quite so...blah.

Picked up the puppies this morning. All was well until Mickey bounded into the house with a bleeding foot. See Kris jump. See Kris jump into the car and drive to walgreens for first aid supplies.

Apparently Mickelodeon tore a nail. I washed and bandaged his foot, then kept him inside for the rest of the day. As of this moment, the nail is still intact. Bleeding has stopped. I've calmed down. Felt too frazzled to do something useful like taxes. Instead I read Ian Rankin's LET IT BLEED, an Inspector Rebus mystery. Hell of a good book.

I bought several books during the Festival. Along with two Rankins, a mystery antho edited by Ed Gorman, a true crime antho edited by Lawrence Block, AN EYE FOR MURDER by Chicago author Libby Fischer Hellmann, and PUBLICIZE YOUR BOOK by Jacqueline Deval. I also bought some lovely stationery from a place called Small Meadow Press, paper printed with Jane Austen quotations and mystery notecards. Very nice stuff.
