ksmith: (Glasses)
I've been following the updates in[livejournal.com profile] windrose journal concerning Katherine Lawrence. Even though we had never met, we emailed and talked on the phone. I leaned on her when Dad was sick, and was very thankful that she took the time to listen. I valued her input as a first reader, and found her insights valuable. I enjoyed her sense of humor. We had talked about getting together this year at a con for the first time. Now that isn't going to happen.

I cried last night. Today I still can't quite believe it. From what I heard, she took her life in the same way as the protagonist in her wip, who takes sleeping pills and dies along the shores of the San Pedro River. The protagonsist then wakes up in the 1880s. I hope Kath wakes up in a place where she'll feel at peace.
