Ghirardelli's Ground Sweet Chocolate is delicious stuff. But the powder is ground exceeding fine, and if you decide to taste it by the spoon, it goes right down your throat and up and into your sinuses.

Not quite Death by Chocolate. More like Wheezing, Coughing, Choking Fit by Chocolate.

As in "we are under".

A little bit of snow tonight into tomorrow. Then Tuesday afternoon/evening into Wednesday, the sky falls down. Anywhere from 12-24+ inches snow predicted, with sustained winds of 30-40 mph. The NWS used the term "life-threatening conditions" when discussing the possibilities.

There's always a chance things could shift, which would mean less snow. But so far, no sign of shiftage.

I'm planning to work from home Wednesday. Arranged with the lawncare guys to do the driveway, which means I just need to worry about the roof. I have a basic one-floor ranch-style peak on both the garage and house. Both roofs have newer shingles and are about half newer wood. I would not expect trouble, she said hopefully, but we haven't had this much snow predicted since 1999. I will probably bring the roof rake thingie up on the deck, just in case. If we get much more than a foot, I'll be using it.

I just don't want the power to go out. I have enough firewood for a day, maybe, and I'm not too concerned about getting cold. I just hate it when the power is out.

Deadline still aten't dead

Need the weekend. Asked for the weekend. Got the weekend.

Wound up dumping way more old material that I thought I would. Been working since early Thursday morning--all my all-nighters since college have been book-related. Go figure.

Figured there was no way I could write 25K new words in 5 hours, not even if I channeled Jay Lake. Even the three-day weekend will be a stretch, but brain is in overdrive, so I should be able to do it. Have to.

One problem with all-nighters is that they screw up my meal schedule. I find myself craving pot roast at 930 in the morning. Found some leftovers in the deep freeze, and have them heating slowly. Should be able to stretch it to at least 11am.

I think my neighbors are concerned as to my whereabouts. Or maybe they think I'm sick since I haven't emerged for several days. We got an inch or so of snow y'day, in addition to the inch or so already on the ground. I was planning to shovel over the weekend, but y'day afternoon what should I hear but the roar of a snowblower. Neighbor did my front sidewalk and driveway. Need to bake cookies next week, methinks.

Hobbes : What mood is that?
Calvin : Last-minute panic.

Left a bedroom window open today so that the place could get a good airing. Closed the door and forgot about it until about 10 minutes ago.

Wow. 42F, according to the clock thermometer. I can feel those cold blankets now...
