Some actual text for a change

ksmithFriday and Saturday were busy days filled with yardwork--grasscutting and tree trimming and bagging the results of said trimming. Just let it be said that cutting off the branches is the easy part. Gathering them together and cutting them up so that they fit into the officially sanctioned lawn waste bags is what takes the time.
Anyway, temps hit the lo 80s today, so we took it easy. Watched D-Day commemorations and a little about late President Reagan and some of the Cub game. Ordered gutter covers from one of the too-many catalogs I receive. Filled the wading pool and gave King a chance to make a mess and have some fun. Paid a few bills. Took a few quizzes. Now I need to think about getting ready for the week ahead, something which I'd rather avoid but oh well.
I haven't listened to this Nirvana CD in a while. Easy to forget how good Kurt Cobain was, despite his many demons...or more likely because of them. I enjoy contrasting Nirvana with Foo Fighters, Dave Grohl's band. Beneath all the angst was a pop mind looking for release. To me, it's as though Cobain was John Lennon to Grohl's McCartney, although I don't believe Grohl played as much of a part in the songwriting as did McCartney. More a question of mood, I think, along with impact and staying power. In both cases, imho, both the sum of the parts and the solo work of the deceased surpass by furlongs that of the one left behind. But then, I'm Angst Girl.
