The best-laid plans
Apr. 24th, 2004 12:25 pmI think I have a cold.
Yesterday, it felt as though my allergies, which up to that point had been manageable, had decided to execute a power play against every cell in my body. I couldn't find the Nasalcrom to settle the nose, but I took the OTC Claritin, a cup of hot tea, and then hied to Walgreen's this morning for said Nasalcrom and allergy drops for my eyes. As soon as I made it back to the car, I sprayed and eyedropped--the drops made my eyes feel the way they do after I visit the eye doctor. I know you have to be careful to not overuse those drops, but I was desperate. What's worse--using allergy drops or scratching the edges of your eyelids with your nails and rubbing until your eyeballs squeak?
Then the aches and chills started. No, Dorothy--I don't think we're in Kansas anymore. Methinks we have a cold--yes, I do get aches and pains with a cold--aggravated by allergies. Oh joy, and we had such plans for today. I bought a set of lawn tool hooks for the garage, hanging pots of begonias and impatiens and new hooks so I could hang them from the eaves, and dust masks so that I could work in the garage without sneezing my brains out.
If it was sunny outside, I'd give it a shot. But it's cloudy and in the hi 40s, with a wind coming in off the lake.
Damn, damn, damn. I wanted to work today. Got all the errands done, and I still have the entire afternoon ahead of me.
Maybe if I take a nap...
