One of the dandy things that went on during NADWcon was a special trip to the Henry Vilas Zoo to see the orangutans. The zoo closed the ape pavilion for us, and one of the directors (?) of the house talked to us.
The orangutan we were introduced to was a male, 7 years old. The director told us his name, but she did add that they ask people not to call out to him or any of the other apes as the constant barrage can confuse and agitate them. Even so, this orang has a wonderful personality, and seemed as curious about us as we were about him. I took a few short video clips and a number of photos. I like this photo the best because of the eeriness.

I wish I remembered the director's name--she was very informative and obviously very fond of her charges.
