The task at hand

It seemed simple, really. Cull the books in my bedroom bookcase, moving out those unlikely to be read anytime soon and consigning them to the basement shelves. Move the books from atop the armoire and the nightstand and the chair that I dragged in for the express purpose of holding said books and either cart them downstairs or move them into the bookcase. Move the chair downstairs as well.

It's been a while since I cleaned. Bad Kris. Dog hair gets everywhere, including behind the books in said bookcase.

I am hoping the task goes more quickly now that I don't have to leave it to handle the laundry (3 loads done--vacay clothes and my sheets and dog sheets (for covering car seats/couch)). I took a break to make a marinade for dinnertime tune steak (honey dijon mustard/soy sauce/olive oil/rice vinegar--1st time trying it so I hope it's good).

Now, back to the books. It's hotter than bloody hell outside. The pups go out for a bit, then come back in and sprawl on the hardwood floor. I hope everyone has their power back because this would be a hell of a time to be without A/C or fans.

Anyway. Books.

I admire your get-up-and-go! Yay, you!

I also admire your "tune steak" which I expect means tuna steak, but isn't the idea of a "tune steak" kinda neat, too?

I view your cleaning progress with dismay. I have the whole-house deep-clean looming (oh, maybe a year from now) and it fills me with trrrrrrepi....dation.

Heh. Tune steak. Puts a new spin on singing for your supper.

You need to understand that my house is a bit of a mess. It needs many things, and dog hair repellent is one of them.

Mine is too. I have discovered, since becoming a widow almost 5 years ago, that I do not, after all, have it in me to spend all my free time cleaning and doing yard work. Far from it. Ahem, rather TOO far from it. I keep the chaos at bay, but no better. I have other things I'd rather spend my time and energy on.

But, periodically, I get a wild hare and clean the hell out of one room or the other. Then the urge goes away for awhile, and good riddance, I say. lol

I'm the same way. One room, or part of it, sets me off. With the bedroom, it was the top of the dresser, which had become a muddle of earrings, mismatched socks, clothing tags and the damned teeny packets that hold extra buttons. And dust. Let's not forget the dust.

The spare room needs to be next on the list. It's become a hiding place for junk and a place to stash extra bedspreads.
