I really shouldn't be watching Kill Bill Vol 2.

Oh well. Only 40 minutes to go. I've come this far....

It's not Bill so much as Uma Thurman (the protag) and Lucy Liu (one of the antagonists, who is actually in Vol 1). David Carradine is strangely attractive as Bill, but I can't forget how he died in real life, and it affects how I look at him.

I haven't seen any movies in the genres that Tarantino pays homage to with these films, but I don't think it's necessary.

I think I will watch something light and funny this weekend.

The movies are raw and violent and over the top, but I find some sequences stunning. I can watch them over and over. Other Tarantino films don't interest me, but I like these a lot.

Question--did Bea cut off O-Ren's head? You see something fly through the air that looks hair-covered, but then O-Ren collapses, and her head is still attached.

O-Ren is a favorite character, despite her brutality. We learn so much about her background, the love she felt for her parents and the way their loss warped her. For that reason, she's the closest to a mirror image of Bea; they both loved, and lost. I know Tarantino's story timelines are not linear, and he does give over the bulk of KBv1 to their confrontation. But I can't help but think their battle should have been Bea's penultimate, not the second.
