In my hotel room, playing with the internetz.

Pleasant drive through small towns and farm fields and wilderness, ignoring the instructions from the GPS as it tried to steer me toward one or the other interstate. I hooked it up because I knew I would need it in Madison--I forget which way the one-way streets run, and I usually miss the turn onto Broom Street, as I did today. I listened to the GPS this time, and she bailed me out even though she had every right to say "you've blown me off to this point, so hell with you."

After I checked in, had late lunch with Dave Godwin. Hope to see his lady wife Denise Connell later, whether as herself or in her persona as the redoubtable Mrs Palm. Volunteered for con suite duty tonight, which I guess may involve mostly set up, but we'll see.

I can see the lake from my room. Sailboats. Sunny day. High cloud. Temps in the 80s.

I really needed this.

SO happy you're there. You did need this.

We have temps in the 100s (of course) and something got into the upper end of the water garden last night, digging under the liner and moving it so some hundreds of gallons of water spilled out. Well, the trees needed watering, but we still need rain to boost the tanks.

R- is off to see the cardiologist. I'm (not very quickly) writing a couple of difficult scenes and wishing I were where you are. I feel the need to eat for comfort. Not a good idea.

I am very glad to be here, but it's only Day 1 and I already have Con Brain. Not sure what day it is. Have to pause and think about how to do things I should be able to do in my sleep. Have to remind myself to DRINK WATER.

I hope R is doing well, and that the scenes worked out.

Wish you were here, too.
