I'm working in bed. Light's on. Pups are sleeping.

Then Gaby lifts her head and stares first at me, then at the light. Then she stands up and turns around until her back is facing the lamp. Then she lies down again.

I am a bad dogmom.

The cats and starling usually guilt me into either leaving the bedroom (with the lights out) and going to work elsewhere or giving up and going to bed.

Their facial expressions can be brutal! And all that pointed rearranging.

The late Mickster staked a claim to my office. If I tried to work past 9 or 10 in the evening, I would sense a pair of eyes boring through the back of my head. Sometimes, grumbling would ensue.

What's really weird and annoying is that Merlyn comes in to make me go to bed -- and then he will leave to sleep in the living room, where I turn the fan off for him. But he makes me go to bed first!
