Peter Falk has passed away. Lt. Columbo.

I really liked the early Columbos. In the final iterations, Falk relied too much on the character's tics, and lapsed into self-parody. But the early 70s episodes and some of those from the early 90s were choice.

Crud. I liked him, too. Well, he had pretty good innings, and left a fine legacy. I'm surprised the article I saw didn't mention - I think he got an Emmy for his 1950s (60s?) role in (I believe) Playhouse 90s' "The Price of Tomatoes" (with Inger Stevens). Why am I so vague? Well, I was pretty young when I saw it...the night it was broadcast. I wonder if anyone saved a - what do they call those grainy old copies of the early TV recordings? I remember it blew me away, that show. I vividly remember both him and Stevens. Wow. I'm old.

Ah. See, little Terry didn't take good enough notes. It was the Dick Powell Theatre series and it was 1962.
