Gaby had given chase. It managed to get away from her and dart up the garage gutter. But it couldn't gain a foothold and all I could hear as I approached was the clatter of claws against metal as it tried to climb. I didn't see it enter and thought it was a bird at first--removed the lower piece of gutter and saw a flurry of brown, first rear legs then the whole body as it tumbled out and darted across the driveway, Gaby barking all the while.

Maybe that was the execution that never took place. The beastie has a death wish, though. Its days are numbered.

Glad that Gaby's back to her normal self!

Pip came back with a dead squirrel in his mouth the other day. I didn't see him chase it so I don't think it was murder - either he found it dead and moved the body, or it fell from a tree and landed in his mouth, in which case a verdict of misadventure or suicide...

Glad that Gaby's back to her normal self!

Fingers crossed. It will be 3 weeks on Sunday. I know there's a possibility it could happen again, but may that be in the dim, distant future. Years and years. Better yet, never again.

I'm watching her. I think it may always be in the back of my mind from now on.

When Gaby kills something, she keeps it beside her like a toy. Sometimes she buries it and digs it up again. King isn't sure what to do--the one time he killed a squirrel, he kept pawing it as though prodding it to move. He had no clue what to do next.
