Not to blow my own horn, but I am so pleased about how much Gaby's coat has improved since I straightened out her diet. Before we settled on the duck & sweet potato, her coat was coarse and thin. Today, the groomer apologized for taking so long with her, but the summer trim took a while because Gaby's coat is so thick.

With this super short trim, her coat feels soft as velour. I love her with a longer coat--she looks like a little puff ball--but not with the summer heat.

Her weight's holding at about 43 pounds, which is a pound or two on the heavy side. I blame winter weight gain. She eats less during the summer--last summer, she dropped to 39 pounds, and was starting to look a little thin.

Its amazing what a difference diet can make. Twiddles gets a high end venison based all natural no filler food. She looks like a puppy and people are consistently shocked when I tell them she'll be 11 on July 4th. It helps coat, weight, activity... all the good doggy stuff. BTW, love the bandana.

I love the bandannas, too, but they have to come off after a couple of hours because King grabs them during play and doesn't realize he's choking his playmate. That's why Gaby doesn't wear a collar while on the property. She's chipped, but I can't risk a collar even when I'm in yard watching them. King doesn't mean it, but he's 3x her size and he's just trying to hold onto her.

As for food, I am thinking of changing King's food even though he's fine. Holistic Select has a chicken and pea weight management formula that I've been mixing with his Eagle Pack Natural Formula. No complaints about Eagle Pack except that it does contain corn, and I have seen no adverse reactions due to corn so should I risk a switch? I feed him the Natural Formula b/c it's made for large dogs with digestive issues, which he suffered in the past. But he seems ok now, and I do need to watch his weight...

It's rewarding. I know I keep going on about it, but it makes me happy to see her sassy and fuzzy. Or like she is now, stretched out on the cool wood floor.

This short cut has brought out the terrier in her. She looks so much like a small schnauzer.
