Raining. Gonna be a rainy, chilly weekend. Luckily, I have plenty of indoor stuff to do to stay busy. Yea.

After exposure to last weekend's 80F day and a few sunny stretches over the week, some seeds finally sprouted in the starter tray. I could have helped matters along if I had remembered to put the clear plastic lid atop the tray three weeks ago so it could do the miniature greenhouse thing, but I finally got my act together early last week and, well, germination commenced. I'm a few weeks late compared to last year, but I think I'll be OK as long as I have something to plant come Memorial Day.

I had been wanting a set of bookends for a while. Happened along a Levengers ad online, and decided to poke around. I like James Thurber and well, Levengers had a set of Thurber dog bookends on sale for about 2/3rds off. I snapped them up, and they arrived today. They're very nice, weighty with good detail. I think there's also a set of kitty bookends on sale for the feline aficionados out there.

Oh well, onward. The pups just came in from a quick potty break outside--Gaby is now lying nearby, and the area around my chair smells vaguely of wet dog. Hawks play later tonight. Not looking forward to it.

Tell you what -- you send some rain down here, I'll send you some 80+ weather. We're dipping again tonight, but by Sunday night it will be a low of 69, and you know what that means for daytime. We're 17 degrees F above normal -- we have heat to burn. Literally.

It's snowing now. Want some of that?

I would like a Spring, Please? I have a feeling we're going to go from Too Cold To Plant Anything to Hot Enough To Kill Everything with nothing in between.

Actually, snow would be amusing and drop the temps a bit. Unfortunately, down here it would probably be hail.

I have a suspicion that Spring is still on Winter vacation and will get chewed out by Mother Nature, but too late for us this year. We're all headed straight to Summer. I never did see any Peppermint Peaches in bloom this year -- we did Spring in about a week, in February.

Which is wrong.
