A great blog post about writerly/artistic jealousy over at a place called Rumpus.net, which I had not heard of prior to spotting the link on Twitter:

Dear Awful Jealous Person,

We are all savages inside. We all want to be the chosen, the beloved, the esteemed. There isn’t a person reading this who hasn’t at one point or another had that why not me? voice pop into the interior mix when something good has happened to someone else. But that doesn’t mean you should allow it to rule your life, sweet pea. It means you have work to do.

Read the rest. It's worth it.

In appreciation, I purchased a "Write Like a Motherfucker" mug. Drinking fresh coffee from it as I type.

What an amazing column. Thanks for the pointer! Advice like this is good to hear and it doesn't just pertain to writing.

I purchased the mug as well; hopefully, it is winging its way to me even as I write.

I'm glad you liked it. And yea! for more mugs, because can one ever have too many?

Don't answer that.

A daunting amount of good writing out on the interwebs. And I know I miss most of it, so I'm grateful when I find something like this.

Yeah, I thought it was a great post (but didn't buy a mug because, yeah, I have too many. Despite giving some away.

I have way too many mugs. Really do need to thin them out.

And yet I buy more...
