ITunes is evil

I'm just saying...

Yeah, iTunes just became available in Canada (for the longest time, it wasn't possible to signup with a Canadian billing address for some weird reason) and I am scared to sign-up... Because I know I'd use it and enrich my credit card company's bottom line.

I didn't even think about using it until I sub'd to DSL. I wouldn't even want to try to download an entire CD via dial-up.

First, I downloaded a couple of favorite hard-to-find songs. Then, a couple of "CDs", Franz Ferdinand and recent Belle & Sebastian. Last night, I found a couple of songs from the iPod commercials that caught my ear--someone just hapened to post a mix of music from said commercials.

I kinda miss the CD inserts with the lyrics and photos and whatnot. iTunes has it now so you can print out a CD label/insert for whichever CD you buy--either they didn't have that when I bought my CDs, or I missed out on how to do it. I wonder if I can go back and print them out...?

*hugs her Palm*

*hugs her local librarians*

I tend to either get the CD from the library or go without. I'm lucky enough to have a really good local library system tho :). I can see the temptation of Itunes tho... they seem to make it about 100% more convenient than any other online music shop.

It's sinfully simple. Go to site, search, choose song, download. A couple of minutes later, it's in your system, ready to do with as you would.

I can see where it would be very easy to spend a lot of money very quickly.

And your point is.....? ;)

*eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeevil*

So... how much music have you bought? :)

[identity profile] kristine-smith.livejournal.com 2005-02-23 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
2 full CDs and 6 or 7 individual tracks.

Not too much damage. Yet.

Sounds like you've done about as much damage as I have. I love being able to get only the songs I like instead of buy an entire CD. :)

If the tax refund allows, there may be an iPod Mini in my future. Then watch the damage.
