Browsers

Going to switch to Firefox as my primary browser to see if that eliminates the hard drive racing. If it does...well, damn. I love Safari's top picks view, the autofill works better than FF's, and FF has its own idiosyncrasies. But every Safari update seems slower and buggier than the last. Something in the current iteration deactivates links on Google search pages--I have to close Safari and reopen it for the links to work, and that's only a temporary fix. It doesn't get along with the checkout pages for some of my favorite stores. And then there's the ad chokage.

What other browsers are out there? Is Chrome any good?

Chrome on a PC is quite nice, and very fast.

Chrome is awesome. I used FF for years, but it recently started having massive problems.

I made the mistake of installing NoScript on FF, and can't figure out how to turn it off. It is mightily annoying.

For Firefox, make sure you also install the useful add-ons, which will block ads and reduce the overall load on your system.

I have and highly recommend:
Adblock Plus
BetterPrivacy
Flashblock
Privacy Plus

I also like (for other uses):
Download Statusbar
Form History Control
Web Developer

There's also Opera (available for Windows, Mac, Linux).

I remember Opera from my PC days. I didn't use it long enough to get to know it well.

I've been using Chrome on my personal PC - works pretty good.
