Halftime of the Bulls game featured a tribute to the 1991 Championship team. The usual suspects: Jordan, Pippen, Grant, Paxson. But 20 years? No. 5, maybe. 10 at the very most.

...I was 12 at the time. (Well, 13, IIRC the Finals ended after my birthday.) And it still feels really recent. Don't know if that helps or hurts.

Tell me that I'm not losing my mind up here in Madison, and that there really were WI protest chants that you could hear on WGN in the 4th quarter?

It all hurts. I was 32. I either hadn't begun writing yet, or I was just getting started. I didn't own a computer, only a clunky electric typewriter.

Are you asking if the United Center crowd was chanting, or if you guys were chanting so loud we could hear you down here?

It must be amazing to be in Madison now.

I thought I heard the UC crowd with bursts of "tell me what democracy looks like/this is what democracy looks like" on the broadcast. But I am *so* attuned to that rhythm right now that I can't swear that my brain isn't overlaying patterns that aren't there. On the gripping hand, pretty sure I caught the words, not just the rhythm, and we're far enough from downtown that it was *not* coming in from outside.

Yeah, yesterday was amazing. Torrilin and I have been trying to document things over at Making Light, but there's really no substitute for being here *and* seeing other people's coverage.

I admit that I was doing other things while the game was on, and had the volume lowered. Folks in the crowd may possibly have been shouting their support for Wisconsin, but I would have missed it.

Please, Wisconsin, keep fighting. You're the first domino. If the corporatists win there, they'll just keep pushing until they get that feudal economy they apparently so desire.
