Thanks, and thanks. I wish I could change the text to something more readable. I used the El-Jay icon maker, which used to be out in the wild, but is now apparently a Windows-only program. I need to find a decent, uncomplicated Mac icon maker.
No plain copies, unfortunately. I made it right at the old El Jay site. I even tried to download the program anyway, and it apparently is no more. The links from other sites led nowhere.
Photoshop is very expensive. I have an ancient, outdated copy I got several years ago. Haven't been able to justify the cost of upgrading, and the old version does what I need it to do.
There are decent freeware graphics programs available. I can check with my tech-goddess about which would be best for a Mac user if you like.
That would be great, thanks. Not paying $700 to make LJ icons, nope.
I already have iPhoto. I remember looking for an option for adding text once, and not finding it, but if there is one, that pretty much solves my problem.

Oy, Kris-the-short-storyist. That's strange. Short works are a struggle for me, although this one came more easily than the others.
Overall, shorts are a fun way to quickly set up and explore new worlds and characters. Speed dating, as opposed to the serial monogamy of novels.

Is Photoshop expensive? Is it hard to use?
