The best laid plans

ksmithGot all my errands done. Groceries bought. Furnace filters--found these new washable/reusable ones that I'm going to try out.
On my way to do all this, I decided to run Kuro through the car wash. Temps are in the 30s, so the doors wouldn't freeze shut or anything and besides, Kuro looked like a bar snack. So I ran him through, then went to fill up with gas.
Door was locked. I flipped the inner door switch that opens all the doors, but before I could open the door itself to step out, the switch closed, locking me back in. I flipped it open again, and it shut again. Then it went all Stephen King on me, clickety-clicking away, as though it opened and closed in rapid succession. The buttons themselves didn't move, though. It was all happening inside the door.
I managed to get out of the car eventually. Left the driver side door open. Filled up, got back in, argued with the door switch a little more. Finally got to stay open. It remained open for about 5 minutes, then activated on the way to the grocery store, locking all the doors again.
When I got to the store, I tucked the car manual into my handbag, then mucked about with the locks. My key controller still works, but when I unlock the doors I need to open one fast or they will lock again. The plain old metal key works just fine.
Got my shopping done. Tested the door switch on the way home. It's now crapped out totally. It's dead, Jim.
I think that water--perhaps salty water, which would be worse--got into the door and shorted something. Blew a board. I'm not going to do anything about it now...assuming that whatever happened is limited to the door mechanism and doesn't go on to impact anything else.
That'll teach me to wash my car.
UPDATE: And after a few hours of sitting in the driveway, car behavior is back to normal. I really hope this was just a transitory glitch, and not Kuro realizing that the tax refund is still a few weeks away and that he needs to hold off until then.
