Adblock

Finally broke down and downloaded Adblock for Safari as the ads were slowing down pageloads something fierce.It's supposed to show up as an icon in the Safari Preferences panel, but so far I don't see it. I think it's working. Pages are loading faster. But it's all guesswork on my part because I can't find it anywhere.

Anyone out there using Snow Leopard/Safari 5.0.3 w/ Adblock? If you are, does the tab/icon show up
anywhere?

UPDATE: for whatever reason, both attempts at installing AdBlock using the pkg downloaded from the website failed. Installing via Safari Extensions worked. Maybe you can't download it from another website if it's available from Extensions? In any event, it's working

Not on Safari, but on Firefox it shows as a little red dot in the upper right corner of the screen. Where would the analogous spot be in Safari?

I don't know. According to the Adblock site it makes its own tab in the Preferences panel, but I don't know if that's a screenshot of the latest greatest versions.

You should see it listed in Safari->Preferences->Extensions.

I've found Javascript Blacklist, Ghostery, and ClickToFlash useful also.

It's not there. Do I need to restart my system? Restarting Safari didn't do anything.

Strange. You might give re-installing from https://extensions.apple.com/ a try. All the extensions I've installed from there have just show up.

Thanks--I reinstalled it that way, and now it shows up. I'm wondering if one of my Intego programs kept it from loading? It shouldn't have. I don;t know what happened.
