The latest Hyperbole and a Half has just the teeniest sociopathic horror edge:

What Benny did not know was that we were incredibly serious about the realistic aspects of "wolf pack." In our wildly vivid imaginations, we were actually wolves and Benny was actually a deer.

I still have pretty vivid memories of some of the things we did in early grade school. We were cruel little beasts simply because we didn't realize yet that we were causing pain.

And I am making myself sound OMG, but it's the truth.

It's funny, because as 6 and 7 yo's, we played Horses. It was telling. The two Queen Bees took turns leading the herd. Sometimes there were fights, and we split into two herds.

When we were six and seven, little girls' dresses still had sashes that tied in bows in the back. Reins, in other words. The horse crazy tomboys among us took turns driving each other. My mother was not pleased when my sashes tore out; she made my clothes. I could run faster than any of my "drivers". I was pulling my drivers along and sashes weren't made for that. Their sashes never tore out when I drove them...because they couldn't run fast enough and I was careful.)
