...She's here now. She's very active. King is exhausted, and Gaby shows little sign of slowing down. They already chased one another around the birdbath garden many times, and they're outside now. I understand there's a great deal of excitement on both sides.

The Dynamic Duo have been celebrating the day by being utter PITAs. They woke me up early--well, early for someone who was up until 3am--and they've been bugging and barking at me ever since. Gaby refused breakfast because she wanted to go outside and chase things. King stayed inside and followed me around the house as I vacuumed, barking at the Dyson, lying down where I needed to clean, and just generally getting in the way. They're napping now, conserving their energies for later in the day.

The guilty parties:

Here's a better picture of King, who is really hard to photograph. I think it's because he's so dark that details don't pop out well. He just looks blobby, and he's not.

Gaby looks soooo much better now than when you first brought her home. The happy just RADIATES off her, and her coat? wow. What a difference.

Her coat was coarse and thin when she arrived. I thought it would always be that way because even as she gained weight over that first year, it didn't improve. Then we had the GI issues in August '09, then in November, and after some trial and error finally settled on the duck and sweet potato food. Within two weeks, her coat started to thicken and feel softer. Now I have a hard time working through it to get to her skin so I can apply Frontline.

I feel bad that it took so long to settle on the right food, but the vet doesn't think it will have any significant long-term effects.
