The old wireless keyboard does not work with the iPad. This is the 2003 Apple wireless keyboard with the white plastic case. No work. If I want to use an external keyboard, need to get a new one. I am going to try to get down to the Apple store in Northbrook sometime this weekend. Presents!

I have an old padded Targus shoulder bag that I bought years ago in one of many failed attempts to find the perfect con bag. The iPad fits perfectly--still need the screen protector, but the case should hold cords, keyboard, and other accoutrements fairly easily. Just goes to show that if you buy every damned type of bag ever made, sooner or later you may actually use one of them.

What Targus bag do you have? I'm looking for a shoulder-strap model to use for travel-with-iPad. I did buy an inexpensive padded netbook case that I've been using as a sleeve in my briefcase, but I can see I'm going to want a shoulder bag.

Keyboards: This video might help with your existing keyboard: http://www.tuaw.com/2010/04/05/found-footage-how-to-connect-an-ipad-to-your-existing-wireless/

I ordered the Apple keyboard/dock (http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC533LL/A) when I bought the iPad, but now I've decided that's just not useful for me. I don't see using the iPad for extensive typing at home, and because of the angled support for the dock the keyboard isn't going to pack well. Guess I'll put it on eBay (don't think I can talk Apple into taking it back now) and go looking for a wireless one, maybe even one of the folding models.

The bag is the CBT100. I bought it for my HP Jornada PDA *years* ago. I don't even know if they make it anymore, but I saw that there were CBT200 and CBT300 models.

It isn't quite right. The main compartment has two padded pockets designed for a PDA and folding keyboard. The compartment itself isn't padded, but looks to be big enough for an iPad in a padded sleeve or folder. Then there's the usual front compartment with pockets for pens, phone, and other gear. It's a decent bag, and I would like to see if it works before spending money on yet another specialized carrier.

Thanks for the tip on the wireless keyboard--I was considering getting the iPad keyboard with dock. Another knock against it is that you can't attach the iPad in Landscape mode, which is the way I prefer to orient it.

I did view the video you link to--the problem is with my keyboard. It's the old, old bluetooth model with an older interface that not only wouldn't connect with the iPad but also knocked out the wireless internet connection. It states on the Apple site that this model keyboard will not work with an iPad. I need a 2007 model or newer.
