...was frightful.

6 or 7 inches of snow yesterday, which I cleared from the driveway. Had the point driven home yet again that I have a big driveway--90 or so feet long and wide enough at the top to park two large vehicles side by side with plenty of room to spare.

Went to sleep that night hoping that the forecasters were wrong and we wouldn't get the 7 to 10 more inches that they said we would. Well, they weren't. We got it. I woke up this morning, and heard a neighbor's snowthrower. Donned snow removal gear and went outside, hoping that maybe I could get the Forester out and worry about snow clearance after work.

Suffice it to say I missed work today. Maybe I wouldn't have had to, but by the time I cleared the driveway and sidewalks, raked the roof, then cleared *that* off the sidewalks, it wasn't worth going in. So, an unintended vacation day. Not my idea of how to spend it, but the driveway is clear. I'm trying to not think about the fact that the weather may warm sufficiently over the next several days that much of the snow may melt anyway.

Spent part of the afternoon setting up checking and savings accounts in Quicken for Mac. Apparently my old QDF files can't be read by this new version, so I had to start from scratch, carrying over things that didn't get cleared in the December statements and leaving it at that. I also sketched out a budget. I knew a rude awakening was at hand in that regard, and I was right. Someone needs to stop being stupid. Granted, as far as budgets go, I'm lucky. All I'm looking at is net income from the day job, after retirement savings, taxes, and everything else is taken out. That being said, I still made some pretty dumb decisions over the past year, which means that one BIG goal for this year is to undo some of the damage.
