It's raining. I'm working. King is on the couch beside me, dozing. Gaby is restless, pacing. I keep telling her to sit down. She does for a minute or two, then she's up again. I tell her to lie down. She does, positioning herself so she can stare at me. I hide behind the laptop display, and she sits up so she can see me. Fine, she has to go outside. She was just outside, but what difference does that make? I get up, ask her if she wants to go out. She stays in the living room, and looks up. If you follow her line of sight through the wall, she is looking at the top of the refrigerator, where I put the squeaky Tennis Tail when I can't stand it anymore. Yes, she did want the toy. She's lying on the rug now, worrying it. She has me trained so well.

If I try to ignore her by watching TV, she will position herself in my line of sight. She is relentless.

Relentless is sleeping now, her toy by her side.
