I don't blame Niemi for that one. The Caps woke up during the 3rd period, and the Hawks fell asleep.

And now my Sunday crankies have even more cranky. At least it's sunny outside. A little cool, but I still have the windows open. Fresh air. I can't believe how quickly the snow melted. Just a tiny patch left in the backyard. Little if any left in the front--I'd get up to check, but I don't want to awaken dozing dogs.

They're on now on WGN-9. Spring training game against the Angels. They're losing 5-6 in the 6th. Just like old times.

Probably. Now that I don't follow them, maybe they'll finally win the World Series. I have this story-I-never-wrote rattling in my brain about a Cubs fan who is cursed in a different way. The only way the Cubs will ever win the Series is if this fan never watches a game or reads about them in the paper or sees them on TV or online--only by avoiding them completely can his beloved team ever win the Big One.

I believe that this is the curse dogging the Cubs. That fan is out there, somewhere, unable to cut his Cubbies out of his life. So they keep losing.
