Oh, noes! Where will you go for your author slapfight fix? ;-)

We're trying to figure out if [livejournal.com profile] rarelylynne can get access to the SFF.net now that she's an Affiliate SFWA member.

I believe so. She should be able to join in any case. Some private groups may reamin off-limits, but I don't recall which.

Unless things have changed, nothing on sff.net is off-limits to Affiliate members. I was an Affiliate for a long time before making Associate, and had the run of the place.

However, since SFWA has essentially pulled out of sff.net, I doubt they make it a priority to get their new members the proper credentials. The Executive Director still believes in sff.net as a viable forum, so she should probably check with Jane to get those sff.net credentials. They are very worth having (more so than anything else coming out of SFWA these days).

Yes. There are some areas only available to the Associate and Active members, but she should get access.

I also. Can't remember the name of the twitter(?) feed they use to announce problems. And I don't do twitter anyway.

I forget about the Twitter feed. You don't need to be a member. Just go to the Twitter homepage and search on "SFFNet."

RAID failure, and troubles bringing the system back up. Hosted sites are still available, but News, Mail, and Chat are down.

Hell, I'd have to Google to find the Twitter homepage . . .

If you check the status.sff.net page, they've been updating that as well.

Is there a link on the SFFNet homepage? I tried searching for "status" and couldn't find it.

Hmm. It doesn't appear that there is a link. I just remembered the address from a previous outage. Wonder if someone should recommend it?

It would be a good idea, methinks. I know Twitter is almost ubiquitous, and it is useful, but the first thing I did was go to the SFFNet homepage and search for news there.

And it's back up, for me (at least, I got *some* mail; I assume that's all there was...)
