So I watched Part 2 of LotTL last night, and the same thing bugged me this time as it did the first time I watched it--what drives Lucy Saxon to shoot the Master? The only possible clue I see is the moment when she chimes in as everyone chants. Is that supposedly the point where all his brutality finally makes her realize he needs to be stopped? After all he's done, that's the point where she decides to stop him? Unless I missed a scene, that came out of the blue. An earlier look of disgust or fear or realization followed by loathing would have provided enough set-up to make me buy it, but either it wasn't there or I missed it. Did I miss it, or is it jut one of those story hitches to accept and move on from?

I only watched it once (because there isn't enough tissue in the universe to get me through it again *G*) but I saw a moment of "OMG, he's a monster" before she shot him. Unless I was imagining things...

I may have missed it. But up until that point, she had witnessed some pretty awful things and seemed pretty accepting, even gleeful. Mad as the Master, frankly. In a later episode, she seems quite sane, a different person. In this ep, not so much.

I may have just missed her OMG moment.

My tissue moments? When the Dr says a proper goodbye to Sarah Jane. Rose's last episode.

It completely came out of nowhere.

I think that Lucy had a lot of time in prison to think things over. I, too, did see that moment of "OMG, he's a monster and he's back," but that may have been more in my head than anything. One of my big disappointments of that ep is how they gave short shrift to Lucy's arc in general. I really wanted to see her story more than I wanted to see so much Hungry!Master running around and eating things.

Even a few scenes would have clarified Lucy's character and shored up her motivation and change of heart. John Simm did eat the scenery well, but they could have eased their foot off that gas pedal a little.
