I would have preferred it if the Hawks had been able to salvage that game against the Wild, but if you're going to blow a 4-goal lead in the 3rd period, you probably deserve to lose the game. I know they can't win every game, but damn. Havlat said some pretty snarky things after he signed with the Wild, and it galls me that he may be gloating tonight.

And to think that one of the things the announcers were talking about just before the wheels came off was the Hawks' killer instinct.

Cheer up. At least they had to score at least 4 goals in order to get that lead to blow. The Bruins can't seem to find the net . . .

(As with the Patriots and the Red Sox, I end up paying attention to the Bruins mainly because they are what gets "media" up here. No personal skin off any part of my anatomy.)

IIRC, they had the best record in the league last year. What happened, injuries? I know that Mark Savard was hurt a couple of days ago, when they played the Hawks.

I'm trying not to get all wrapped up in the Hawks the way I used to with the Cubs. But I like having a team to root for that actually wins, so it's hard.

I believe injuries have been a factor. But they also seem to have a hex on their shooting, in particular. Have lost a number of tied games in shootouts, scoring nothing there.

We had friends over, so I didn't watch the game. Some of my skiing buddies were at the Ex; they said the team and crowd feedback in the third was amazing (from a home team perspective). Have to say Sunday morning when I heard the results I thought of you right away!

Boston traded one of their former Gophers (Kessel) to Toronto and lost one of their prime scorers.

I knew as soon as the Wild scored to make it 3-5 that the Hawks would have a devil of a time winning that game. The momentum shifted so totally, and a crowd that had been booing at the end of the first period started going insane. The Hawks got swamped by a tsunami. I think only a team of case-hardened veterans could have regrouped sufficiently to win that game.
